12/14/22: English I students learned about poetry last week and wrote their own Haiku to decorate an ugly Christmas sweater.

12/14/22: Profesora Polly's students from Spanish 1 and 2 worked on the topic of clothes and colors creating "a brand." They created the name of the company, a slogan and a logo. They displayed some items in each category: Ropa para niños (kid's), Ropa para damas (women's) and Ropa para caballeros (men's). They presented it as an advertising campaign explaining in Spanish all these elements and the clothes they "were selling," all while applying grammar and vocabulary used in class.

12/14/22: PHS Senior, Jourdan McDaniel, recently took part in a Spain Internship through the CREATE Foundation. This week, she had the opportunity to visit the CREATE Foundation and do a presentation concerning the experiences she had during that internship, which took place at Southern Cultured Creamery. Also speaking at CREATE were Jessie Jones, IT Director for the Pontotoc School District, who shared about serving as a site host for PHS Senior, Jassmin Perez, during her Spain Internship and Jennifer Dale, career coach, who spoke about building relationships with potential employers for PHS students. We are very thankful to CREATE for the special opportunities they provide our students.

12/14/22: A group of career coaches recently visited PHS to learn about how the staff works together to complement the Expose, Prepare, Connect aspects of the career coach program. Speaking with visitors were Dr. Michelle Bivens, Phil Webb, Dustin Payne, Jennifer Dale, Kevin Westbrooks, and Gary Dixon. PHS students who spoke with our visitors were Jassmin Perez, who shared about her internship experience in the field of information technology, and Gracie Quiche, who spoke about her job shadowing experiences in the field of law. Congratulations to these students on doing an amazing job. We certainly enjoyed having this group of career coaches visiting our campus.

12/8/22: SREB Literacy students were asked to complete a one-pager for the Graphic Novel Monster by Walter Dean Meyers. Most importantly, students had to create a visual representation of the protagonist's inner monster based on the passages in the graphic novel.

12/6/22: Congratulations to Braylin, Jaelyn, Jaidyn, and Landen for being selected for students of the month.

12/5/22: English III students completed an escape room for chapters 1-3 of The Great Gatsby. Students were asked to sort figurative language, complete analysis passages, and order events in the novel.

12/5/22: John Payne and Andrew Chrestman getting Beta Club hours as the jolliest elves at the Tanglefoot Tinseltown!

12/2/22: Using math skills and knowledge of the digestive system's pathway, students in Coach Pollard's Anatomy and Physiology class used a set amount of string to model the pathway from start to finish, keeping in mind the lengths of each section of the GI tract.

12/1/22: Mrs. Parman’s English Composition students collaborated well in their first Socratic seminar.
