Welcome to the Pontotoc Band Program! This website is dedicated to giving out information concerning the Pontotoc Band Program. It is for use by students, parents, administrators, and any interested parties. The Pontotoc Band Program consists of approximately 325 students, grades 6 through 12 and is an integral part of the Pontotoc City School District. It is the largest organization within the school district and serves the student members at a high level. The students at all levels learn a superior work ethic, the importance of communication, effort equals success, courtesy to others, self respect, team work, and the life skills needed for success in any post school endeavors. In addition, beginning in the sixth grade, they also learn the musical skills that will foster a lifetime of enjoyment. In the Junior High there is the 6th Grade Beginner Band, and the Gold and Silver Bands made up of 7th and 8thgraders through audition. These students start with the fundamentals and quickly advance to a challenging repertoire of musical literature. The “crown jewel” of the band program is the Pontotoc High School Band. Upon graduation, 100 % of all senior band members will be offered scholarships! The “All Superior” Pontotoc High School Band has won numerous “Best In Class”, “Sweepstakes”, and “Grand Champion” awards in a variety of formats. Within the high school band program, the students have the opportunity to participate in marching band, concert band, indoor percussion, indoor guard, jazz band, solo and ensemble, and a variety of musical and performance outlets. We are extremely proud of our students in the Pontotoc Band Program as well as the opportunities which are afforded. Please feel free to contact any of the band directors if additional information is needed beyond what is on this website. Thank you for visiting! |
