11/3/22: Mr. Garrett Hereford and Mr. Oscar Gonzalez, representatives from Ashley Industries Human Resources Department spoke to students in College and Career Readiness. They told students about the history of the company, showed them Ashley's world wide locations and showed them videos about some of the jobs that are available at Ashley. Students also learned about the Ashley summer work program and scholarship programs. After the presentation, our visitors tested the students on their Ashley knowledge and awarded them prizes.

11/1/22: Mr. Johnny Anderson, HR Director, and Mr. Matt Ruth, VP of Operations for Albany Industries, visited with College and Career Readiness students and talked to them about what it takes to be successful in the workforce. They focused on soft skills and told students how to make a good impression, including the 3 A's - Attitude, Actions, and Appearance. They also shared information about Albany Industries and how to apply for part time and full time employment.

11/1/22: Jamar Elzie, PHS graduate and Electrical Engineer with Toyota Mississippi, visited and spoke to students interested in this career field for Table Talk Tuesday. Mr. Elzie told students about his background and experiences, his college coursework, internship, and the tasks he performs daily on his job. He encouraged students to work hard and become successful in the electrical engineering field.

10/26/22: As a "check-up" to see how our Sophomores are doing in the Virtual Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo, Mrs. Dale and Mr. Westbrooks visited 10th grade classrooms and awarded small prizes to students who are actively taking part in the Career Expo. 169 sophomores received candy for having their accounts set up. 53 sophomores had 120 or more points and were each awarded a glow bracelet. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place point earners in each classroom received small novelty prizes, just for fun.

10/24/22: Congratulations to Noe, Karlee, Arabella, & Colton for being selected for students of the month.

10/20/22: October 24-28 is Red Ribbon Week, and PHS will have dress-up days in conjunction with the county schools and other schools in our district.  Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985. According to the United States DEA, Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug awareness and prevention program.

10/19/22: Mrs. Joy Deason, a local chemical engineer, came and spoke to students about the career field of chemical engineering.  She talked to students about personal skills and habits they needed to develop for success and how engineering is a wide open field with so many opportunities around the world, across the U.S., and in our own state and region.  She talked about her college program at MSU and encouraged students to take part in job shadowing, special events like visit days offered by engineering programs, and co-oping while in college.  She offered students a question and answer session as well.

10/17/22: Chinna Hill, a flight attendant for SkyWest, visited and spoke to four students who were interested in learning about being a flight attendant. She explained the hiring process and the importance of networking, having a resume, and using good customer service skills. She spoke about her training and benefits and said that being bilingual is a plus in this career field. Ms. Hill encouraged students to attend hiring events and open houses provided by the airlines and follow airlines and flight attendants on social media to keep connected to job and training opportunities. She also allowed the students a question and answer session.

10/17/22: Congratulations to Sheiya, Caleb, Emeri, and Markylan for being selected for students of the month.

10/17/22: Mr. Scott Emison, Construction Management Technology Program Director at Itawamba Community College, visited PHS, during advisory time, and spoke to a group of juniors and seniors interested in the field of construction.  Students learned what was taught within the ICC program and what types of jobs they could have when they graduate the program.
