1/20/23: Mark your calendar for the PHS Varsity Cheer tryouts. Clinic Days will be Thursday, Feb. 23 and Friday, Feb. 24 from 3:30-5:30 at DT Cox. Tryouts will be Feb. 25 from 10:00am-Noon. More information to come!

1/19/22: Congratulations to our PHS Spring 2023 Spain Foundation interns. This week, these interns started their 100 hour paid internship with a job skill class at ICC and will follow that up with work experience in a business or industry. The students will be interning at the following sites. (l-r) Ellis - ICM Construction, Emilie - Pontotoc Veterans Service Office, Jeremy - Pontotoc Electric Power Association, Morgan - Pontotoc Flowers and Gifts by Redele, Alasha - NMMC Pontotoc, Amare - Albany Industries' Industrial Maintenance Department, and Davion - Flagstar Construction.

1/19/23: This week's Workforce Wednesday speakers in College and Career Readiness classes were Ben Black, the onsite manager for Three Rivers Landfill and Allison Weatherly Jones, a recruiter for Waste Connections. Students learned the importance of resumes, phone interview skills, in person interview skills, and soft skills. Students also learned about the available jobs in the field of waste management like drivers, engineers, customer service reps, recruiters, diesel mechanics, and heavy equipment operators.

We greatly appreciate Mr. Black and Mrs. Jones for visiting and speaking with our students.

Parents of 2023 Graduates: As we begin your students final semester at PHS, please don't forget to purchase a yearbook to ensure your student gets to keep the memories of this year forever! We will not have any extra copies, so it is important that you pre-order one as soon as you can. 1/11/23: PHS recently recognized faculty and staff that excelled in their duties. Congratulations to Sam James, PHS Teacher of the Year; Jennifer Hannah, PHS Nutrition Provider of the Year; and James Barnes, PHS Paraprofessional of the Year. Thank you for all the ways you demonstrate your commitment to our school community.

1/10/23: Congratulations to Lori Hamill for being named PASS Teacher of the Year. PASS's vision statement is Personalized, Accountable, Service-oriented, Successful. "Mrs. Hamill is living out our vision statement."

1/10/23: PHS students started new classes last Friday as the spring semester kicked off. In addition to the classes offered on campus, juniors and seniors who have an ACT composite score of 17 or higher have the opportunity to take online courses through ICC. These include: Art Appreciation, Psychology, Spanish I, Public Speaking and College Algebra. The deadline to sign up for an online course is Wednesday, Jan. 11.

12/15/22: Last Thursday, the PHS Esports Smash team competed in-person against Saltillo in the PlayVS Semifinals. Unfortunately, they lost the matchup 1-2 against Saltillo and were knocked out of the Playoffs. Esports will be back in the spring to compete for a second time this year and will host try-outs towards the end of January. Try-outs will be for games such as Super Smash Bros., Rocket League, Mario Kart, Madden 23, and NBA 2k 23.

12/15/22: Toyota Mississippi held a graduation ceremony for their Fall 2022 Creating Your Future Internship graduates on December 14th at the new Toyota Experience Center in Blue Springs. Congratulations to PHS seniors Cayton Corley and Ellis Maffett for completing the 15-week internship program. Both Caden and Ellis received their Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification from Itawamba Community College, as well as, experienced new hire orientation and gained manufacturing experience in various departments of Toyota Mississippi.

12/15/22: Mrs. Boothe's Biology classes dissected rats this week to learn more about organ systems and basic anatomy. Students identified various organs and learned some anatomical directional terms during the dissection.
