2/27/23: PHS Color Guard scored first in Novice Class at the Tupelo Indoor Show on Friday, February 24. Congratulations to these students!

2/23/23: Oscar Gonzalez, Tabitha Stutsy, Brad Williams and Stephanie Fields, representatives from Ashley Furniture Industries, visited as a part of Workforce Wednesday and spoke to students in College and Career Readiness classes. They told students about the history of the company, showed them Ashley's world wide locations, showed them videos about some of the jobs that are available at Ashley, and told them how they have grown, in their own careers, within the company. Students also learned about the Ashley summer work program, scholarship programs, and college internship opportunities.

2/22/23: If your student is interested in becoming a lawyer, paralegal, court reporter, criminal investigator, police officer, bailiff, court clerk, judge, legal secretary, etc., this would be a great opportunity for them to learn about the field of law and court proceedings. The Themis Law Camp will take place from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., June 12th-15th, at the Lee County Justice Center in Tupelo. This day camp is for current 9th-11th graders.

2/21/23: Several Career Camp opportunities are available through Mississippi State University. There is a limited amount of career camp scholarship funding available for Pontotoc School District students who are currently in 6th-11th grades, through CREATE's Toyota Wellspring Education Fund.

2/21/23: FCA students delivered breakfast biscuits to teachers on their professional development day Tuesday. MacKenzie McGuirt, Sadie Stegall, and Molly Sansing give Mrs. Russell a biscuit to enjoy. Teachers appreciated the FCA students getting up early on their day off to provide breakfast for them.

2/17/23: We welcomed Larry Boggs, a career coach manager for Three Rivers, as the Workforce Wednesday speaker for this week. Mr. Boggs spoke about his own story of going from having no direction to being a direction giver. He told the students about gaining direction for his life by visiting a college career center and taking part in an aptitude assessment. He encouraged students to ask for assistance from counselors and career coaches and use any resources they have to figure out a career path and direction for their lives. He also spoke to students about the workplace skills employers are looking for, including the soft skills that are needed on any job.

2/14/23: Get your baseball apparel now through the PHS Diamond Girls' fundraiser. "Baseball is better in The Hollow" t-shirt and sweatshirt fundraiser form are attached. Note they are offering a bundle deal of 1 t-shirt and 1-sweatshirt for $40. Each school has a fundraiser folder in their main office. Orders can be dropped off with the secretary.

2/13/23: College and Career Readiness students had the opportunity to visit with two guest speakers concerning the career field of software development. Mr. Sean Ennis, Director of Base Camp Coding Academy in Water Valley, visited and told students about the application process for Base Camp, the coursework the students would complete if accepted, and described the classroom environment/workspace of the training facility. Base Camp is a free 11 month program that teaches students to become software developers, while earning 45 credit hours toward an associate's degree at Northwest Community College.

2/13/23: The Itawamba Community College choir visited the Pontotoc City choir on Friday, February 10. They got to sing for each other and WITH each other. What an honor!

2/13/23: At the Mississippi College Math Competition last Friday, PHS students won 2nd place in Division 1 teams. Jeremy Ray won 1st place in his subject, computer science. Congratulations to these students!
