10/4/23: PHS Sophomores have taken part in the Virtual Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo Kick-Off this week.

Students, Parents and Community Members are invited and encouraged to set up an account and visit the Virtual Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo.  You can set up an account by visiting itpcareerexpo.com, clicking on "login" and then clicking on "signup" to set up your account.

Many North Mississippians have made "Mentor for a Minute" videos and podcasts to share information about their careers.  Also, there are videos included from national programs like Career One Stop as well as various online career resources.

Sophomore students can earn points for watching videos and listening to podcasts. There will be prize drawings for students earning different point levels.  Please see the flyer for details

10/3/23: Mr. Greg, Balfour representative, presented seniors and junior early graduates with order packets containing all the information needed to order caps, gowns, invitations, and other senior memorabilia and attire. He will return THURSDAY, October 5 to pick up order forms. See the attached PDF for a brief overview. Parents & guardians should check with their graduate for the full packet of information.

10/2/23: Mrs. Kelly’s English 3 class wrapped up their unit on “The Crucible” by completing some character studies, and they turned out great! After “The Crucible," students began studying realism and naturalism poetry. They completed a gallery walk, analyzing some poems from the era, before writing their own!

9/28/23: This week, students in Art 1 have been learning how to draw using one-point perspective. Students were challenged to draw one of our hallways on campus using this technique.

9/27/23: Our business and industry speakers for this week were from the Largest Furniture Manufacturer in the World! Tabitha Stutsy and Diana Ortiz of Ashley Furniture Industries came and shared a vast amount of information and resources with our CCR students.  They shared information concerning internships, scholarships, professional careers, manufacturing and distribution opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and summer jobs.  They also shared some Ashley Trivia and students could earn prizes by answering trivia questions correctly.

9/25/23: Chloe Hester, the recruiter assigned to PHS from Itawamba Community College, visited College and Career Readiness classes on Monday.  Ms. Hester spoke about admissions, housing, college life, ICC tours, ICC social media accounts, financial aid and the Academic, CTE, Healthcare, Career Pathway and Online Programs at ICC.  Students were also given a chance to ask questions.

9/22/23: The community lined Main Street on Thursday evening to see the football team, cheerleaders, band, and homecoming court pass by. Afterwards, everyone filed down to Tommy Morton Field for a great pep rally that got everyone excited for Friday's game. Go Warriors!

9/20/23: Collin Hamric, Director of Apple Services for Exceed Technologies in Tupelo, served as this week's Workforce Wednesday speaker. Mr. Hamric gave students an introduction to the field of information technology including job responsibilities of IT technicians, support specialists, web developers, IT security specialists, computer engineers, IT directors and more. He shared about education and training for jobs, ongoing professional development, and obtaining certifications. He brought Apple products to show students the inner workings of the equipment and allowed students a question and answer session.

9/15/23: Coach Matkins' and Coach Gentry's students recently did an activity during their Industrial Revolution Unit that involved the industrialists they had discussed from that era. They examined John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and J.P. Morgan's accomplishments during the Industrial Revolution alongside their mistreatment of factory workers in their employ.
