9/10/24: This week, Visual Arts 1 students are working on their drawing and blending skills, drawing dragon eyes and shading using oil pastels.

9/10/24: The Pontotoc City School Librarians attended the annual LAMP conference in Oxford yesterday. The Library and Media Professionals (LAMP) Tour is a workshop designed to increase and improve the awareness and understanding of the role of librarians in the state of Mississippi.

9/3/24: Save the dates and start planning those Homecoming outfits!

9/4/24: Mrs. Taylor's class completed their Mapping the Travels of Odysseus projects last week. After reading about Odysseus' complex (and sometimes confusing) journey home following the Trojan War, the students organized the events in chronological order and found text evidence to support their reasoning.

9/4/24: On Friday, August 31st, 35 enthusiastic young women journeyed to Mississippi University for Women to participate in the SK Kovalevsky Mathematics Competition. The day began with a challenging exam, followed by an inspiring talk from guest speaker Dr. Clifton Wingard, who discussed the intriguing world of patterns and problem-solving. Participants then engaged in three interactive small group sessions, exploring a variety of mathematical games, including "GO", Pentominoes, and Sudoku puzzles. The event concluded with the awarding of scholarships to the top performers, celebrating their exceptional mathematical talents.

9/4/24: Parents and guardians are invited to open house at PHS this Thursday, Sept. 5, 5:30-6:30pm.

9/3/24: In Mrs. Kelly's English IV Class, students participated in "32 Second Macbeth," as an introduction to the Macbeth Unit! Students were broken into groups, and given a "script" that contained the most important lines from the play. As a group, they chose their "parts" and then they rehearsed their lines as a group, with the goal of reciting all of the lines (as well as acting out a few things) in 32 seconds or less!

8/28/24: Students in Mrs. Armstrong's English II class, are kicking off their next passage with an interactive, hands-on pre-reading activity designed to spark curiosity and get everyone thinking deeply about the themes being explored.

8/28/24: Mrs. Kelly's English III class worked on identifying the stages of a narrative by evaluating textual evidence, then deciding where it belongs within the stages of the plot.

8/28/24: Congratulations to the following students! The PHS Homecoming Court will be presented at the Homecoming Football Game on October 10th against New Hope.
