3/5/24: PHS was well represented at the Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo Luncheon at Cadence Bank Conference Center on February 27th.  ITP Career Expo prize drawing winners, their parents and their school champions were invited to attend.

2/29/24: Students interested in trying out for the PHS Dance team should mark their calendars! Dance clinic will be held on April 4 & 5 from 3:30-5:00. Tryouts will be April 6 at 10:30. All events will take place in the high school gym.

2/29/24: Kye Webb paged for Beth Luther-Waldo last week and shared his experiences at the Mississippi State Capitol, including his participation in the Ag Commissioner's Youth Advisory Council.

2/26/24: Students and staff showed their appreciation of school resource officer, Kevin Rodgers, last week through "Thank You" post-its acknowledging his hard work and commitment to safety of everyone on campus.

2/22/24: Themis Law Camp in Tupelo is a day camp on June 24-27 for students in 9th-12th grade interested in working in the field of law.  Students must provide their own transportation back and forth each day and will receive a certificate at the end of the camp if they have been present each day for all sessions.

2/16/24: More summer camp opportunities have opened to students in Lee, Itawamba, Chickasaw, Monroe, Pontotoc and Union Counties. The Tek2Go Summer Camp deadline to register is April 26. The camp will fill up fast so get your registration in early!

2/12/24: On February 7th career coaches had special guest Julia Faulkner, Human Resource Management of Walmart Distribution Center, as our "Workforce Wednesday" speaker.  Mrs. Faulkner talked about the rich history of Walmart and how important distribution and logistics is. Mrs. Faulkner talked about all the job opportunities the Distribution Center has to offer such as: truck driving, human resources, order filling, forklift drivers, industrial maintenance, accounting, office administration, and many more.

2/8/24: PHS physics students studied projectile motion this week. They put their skills to the test hitting golf balls and kicking soccer balls. Students collected data and were able to determine the horizontal and vertical components of the projectile's velocity. They were also able to determine the launch angle of each projectile.

2/6/24: On January 31, Pontotoc High School career coaches had special guest Ben Russell of Winchester come and speak to students about the history of Winchester and all the different career opportunities Winchester offers, from production workers, to engineers, to IT personnel, industrial maintenance, human resource, and accountants.

2/5/24: PHS is proud to announce Chloe Shaw is a 9th grade winner of the MS Poetry Project. Statewide winners will receive certificates of congratulations and will be invited to share their winning poems at a reading to be announced. All school-wide winners (not just the statewide winners) will have their poems published in the Mississippi Poetry Project anthology. Every student in the anthology will receive a copy. Congratulations to Chloe, and to all of our talented writers!
