3/20/24: PHS AP Chemistry students are partnering with Ole Miss through a grant with the EPA to do a water quality study at the lake at Howard Stafford Park. Students collect water samples and test for nitrates, nitrites, and phosphates which provide the nutrients for microorganisms that feed small fish and invertebrates.

3/18/24: The Center for Cyber Education is offering a FREE, overnight cybersecurity camp for upcoming 10th-12th graders on MSU’s campus. The camp will be June 18-21, 2024. The camp will offer engaging and hands-on activities like an escape room that center around cybersecurity and AI concepts learned during the camp. It will be a fun learning experience for all involved. The application deadline is April 12. Spots are limited!

3/7/24: Mr. Stephens' creative writing class worked on a reading fair project this nine weeks. As they have studied the elements of a story, the students checked out a book of their choice, pulled the different story elements out, and then explained the structure of their book to their classmates. The goal was to test what they know while fostering a love for reading.

3/5/24: Mrs. Taylor's 4th block listened in to their classmates performance at the MHSAA State Concert Evaluations while they worked.

3/5/24: On February 14th, teachers, students, and career coaches had special guests Bank Teller Supervisor Virginia Crawford and Loan Officer Ryne Franklin of Bank of Pontotoc. They talked about all the different career opportunities in the banking industry, their own career paths, and the importance of managing finances. They taught our students how to make out a check, manage accounts, and much more. They also shared the importance of having good people skills and soft skills. They even had special prizes for our students!

3/5/24: PHS was well represented at the Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo Luncheon at Cadence Bank Conference Center on February 27th.  ITP Career Expo prize drawing winners, their parents and their school champions were invited to attend.

2/29/24: Students interested in trying out for the PHS Dance team should mark their calendars! Dance clinic will be held on April 4 & 5 from 3:30-5:00. Tryouts will be April 6 at 10:30. All events will take place in the high school gym.

2/29/24: Kye Webb paged for Beth Luther-Waldo last week and shared his experiences at the Mississippi State Capitol, including his participation in the Ag Commissioner's Youth Advisory Council.
