delayed start schedule tomorrow, February 4, 2022.

In Mr. James’s Geometry class, students explored the Pythagorean theorem using Cheezits! It was easy to prove that a2+b2=c2 using the cheese crackers. Making a square along each side, side a needed 16 Cheezits, side b need 9 Cheezits, and side c needed 25 Cheezits. Since 9+16=25, a2+b2=c2! Now time for a snack!

Summer Camp Opportunities for interested high school students are now available at Ole Miss for students interested in Robotics, Engineering and Pharmacy. Camp registration needs to be directly related to the student's future career field.

Nine future healthcare majors are taking part in a special dual enrollment program funded through the CREATE Foundation's Toyota Wellspring Education Fund. This semester, these PHS students are taking Medical Terms in Allied Health, virtually, through Itawamba Community College. This is a general medical terminology course concerning word structure, pronunciation and application of the body and systems of the body.

Toyota Mississippi held a graduation ceremony for their Fall 2021 Creating Your Future Internship graduates on December 15th. Congratulations to PHS seniors Brice Deaton, Nathan Tzib and Sam Walker who were three of the seven high school students completing the 15-week internship program.

All three students received their Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification from Itawamba Community College, as well as, experienced new hire orientation and gained manufacturing experience in the stamping, body weld, paint, and assembly departments of Toyota Mississippi.

After studying the Respiratory System in Biology, students completed a simulation lab, illustrating how the diaphragm pulls downward to pull air into the lungs and pushes upward to force air out of the lungs.

Join high school students and teachers in reading a half-marathon of books. The challenge is to read 13 books by May 13, 2022. With race numbers displayed across the library’s glass walls, participating students and teachers list the titles as they finish reading. Families are encouraged to join in and READ 13 by 13!
