4/18/23: You are invited to PHS's Art Show this evening from 5:00-7:00 to see the works of talented student artists! Admission is $1, but kiddos 5 and under get in free! Artwork will be judged by local artists. Other activities include face painting, crafts, an art auction, and a vintage yearbook sale. Support our yearbook staff and create with us. Enter from the senior parking lot.

4/14/23: The Class of 2023 received detailed information on upcoming senior events this morning, including Senior Walkthrough, Parade, Picnic, Awards Night, Graduation Practice and Graduation. They had the opportunity to sign their senior t-shirt and take care of senior business (fines/fees, awards/scholarships, and transcript requests). Parents/Guardians should sign the white sheet in the packet that students received today.

4/12/23: Admission is $5.00 for PUBLIC performances on Friday, April 28 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, April 29 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.  Students get in for $3.00 on the days of school performances (April 26-28) and public performances as well.

4/12/23: Mrs. Kelly’s junior classes are just wrapping up “The Great Gatsby” unit, and here are a few snapshots of some of the projects from this unit! Mrs. Kelly is blown away by how creative her students are! Here you see some character bios, split mask projects, a symbolism mural, and a travel brochure!

4/12/23: Base Camp Coding Academy will be hosting the second annual Pioneer Programmers Coding Camp July 11th through July 13th! This free summer camp is designed to introduce rising junior and senior high school aged girls to the programming field in order to increase the female voice in this field!

4/6/23: Mr. Larry Beckley, Project Manager of Talogy, visited and spoke to CCR classes. Talogy is a Talent, Technical, and Psychology based company that gives assessments to potential hires. Mr. Beckley is a graduate of PHS and Mississippi Valley State University with a degree in Technical Engineering. Mr. Beckley informed students of the importance of not choosing a major because it “sounds cool” but choosing a major that best fits your likes, aptitudes, and real passions. Mr. Beckley also talked about how consistency leads to promotion in the workforce, the importance of soft skills, and how to test well on company given assessments. He even gave the class a leadership assessment and graded participants based on their performance.

Pontotoc City School District has new items and fees available online in MySchoolBucks. It’s not just for online meal payment any more!

3/31/23: Mrs. Jane Chamblee, Pontotoc MSU Extension Agent, presented Welcome to the Real World! to our CCR students.

At different stations students learned about money management. They received assigned jobs, spent their income, registered their expenses, and updated the balances of their checkbooks. When participants ran out of money, they got a second—or third—job!

3/31/23: Dr. Ensley Howell of MSU Extension visited and taught College and Career Readiness students how to tie a tie. Very few students already knew that skill. By the end of the classes with Dr. Howell, all of the students could tie a tie. Students had so much fun learning that life skill, together, with their classmates.

The Spring 2023 Comprehensive Needs Assessment is a survey tool used to gather data to determine needs and performance challenges in the district and schools. This survey is also used to set priorities for future action. Your assessment/feedback is vital to the success of our district. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. You may complete a survey for each of your students in the district.
