11/2/23: The CREATE Foundation's Toyota Wellspring Education Fund has a new Instagram account and they invite students, parents and educators to follow @toyotawellspring.  They had their first Instagram prize contest recently for Mississippi high school students and the winner of the contest prize drawing was our very own Cindy Martinez.  She won a $50 Visa gift card, a $15 Starbucks gift card, a $10 Apple gift card and a Hydro Flask water bottle.  Congratulations, Cindy!  She is pictured being presented her prizes by her College and Career Readiness teacher Gary Dixon.

11/1/23: Students who pay to register for the December 2023 ACT will receive a discount code that can be used to take another ACT® test for free. The discount code will be sent to your email no later than December 18, 2023 and must be used by January 31, 2024. You must register by this Friday, November 3.

10/31/23: PHS Sophomores were literally glowing this week when they had the opportunity to participate in a Career Expo Glow Day. This was a fun way for the career coaches to visit with 10th graders and assess where they are individually in Virtual Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo points.

10/30/23: Tomorrow is the last day to buy your 2024 Warrior Yearbook for the early bird price of $55. Buy it online at www.yearbookforever.com or send cash/check to PHS and buy one from Mrs. Gersh or a member of the yearbook staff.

10/27/23: Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi, planned a special Imagine the Possibilities tour for students and promoted it through the CREATE/Toyota Wellspring Career Connections portal. Several PHS students who are interested in learning about employment opportunities at Toyota attended the event.  Students took part in hands-on activities and simulations led by Toyota Team Members.

10/18/23: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. PHS would like to raise awareness and help support our own PHS teacher, Mrs Nita Wilgus, who is currently undergoing treatment. We will be selling white and pink long sleeve cotton shirts. Paper forms will be sent home to students. All money raised will be donated to Mrs. Wilgus. Please consider supporting such a great cause! 10/18/23: Students' performance on the ACT is highly important. ACT scores affect senior leave, early graduation, high school placement, merit-based scholarships, college admissions, internships and apprenticeship placements. Students can prepare for the test and improve previous scores by PRACTICING. All juniors received practice workbooks to help them prepare. The PHS Library also has resources available for checkout. Students should arrive at school on time with a FULLY CHARGED chromebook to take the test.

10/19/23: Pontotoc graduate, Mr. Tremaine Frison, visited with students to talk about his career in law enforcement as a detective. He shared with our students the importance of being productive with free time that is given, "working your soft skills," and the importance of networking. He also challenged students in College and Career Readiness to make their community better by respecting each other in the classroom and eventually in the workforce. We thank Mr. Frison for visiting with our students.
