(11/21) PHS recognized students who met their Mississippi MAAP growth goals or scored proficient/advanced on one or more of last year’s state assessments (English II, Algebra I, Biology I, and U.S. History) with a school-sponsored field trip to the Malco Cinema in Oxford today, seeing the movie debut of Wicked: For Good.

(11/20) PHS was well represented at the CREATE Foundation's Annual Meeting at the Cadence Bank Conference Center. Two of our PHS Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation Board Members, Callie Kidd and Kyleigh Conner, served as volunteers for the event. Also, Mrs. Joy Chunn, EL Director, took the stage and served on the Toyota Wellspring Education Fund Panel portion of the program titled Driving Educational Excellence. She discussed ways the Toyota Driving Possibilities Program is benefitting students. Great job by all!

(11/20) Spanish class is more than just grammar rules and pronunciation. Learning about culture and the history behind traditions is also meaningful… and fun! Mrs Fly said, "I am so proud of all the hard work my classes put in to create their own piñatas!"

(11/20) The LAST DAY to purchase a senior ad in the Warrior Yearbook is November 21. You can design it yourself by going to www.yearbookforever.com or have the yearbook staff design it for you by completing the form provided by Mrs. Gersh. Prices range from $40-$200.

(11/14) PHS was well-represented at the November 11th Frank K. Spain Internship Showcase, sponsored by the CREATE Foundation, on the ICC-Belden Campus. Three PHS students presented slideshows concerning the tasks they completed during their 100 hour internships and what they learned from them.

PHS is thankful to the Frank K. Spain Foundation and CREATE for providing these opportunities for our students.

(11/14) Mrs. Parman's English classes participated in a Classic Book Buffet in the library this week. Students sampled a variety of books to expose them to types of literature they might not explore on their own. Students self-selected seven out of thirty-four titles considered classic literature and read for seven minutes before rotating to another option of their choice. After each reading, students wrote down their impressions of the book. At the end of class, students discussed with their classmates their favorite and least favorite books. Several students checked out a book to continue reading.

(11/14) On Tuesday, November 18, juniors will take the ACT WorkKeys test. ACT WorkKeys assessments measure foundational workplace skills relevant to any occupation, and can lead to a National Career Readiness Certificate. Receiving a Silver level on the ACT WorkKeys meets one of the requirements for early release students' senior year. It is important that students are present and on time to take this assessment.

(11/11) The PHS Student Council honored our local heroes by hosting its annual Veterans Day Breakfast.

(11/11) Congratulations to all of the contestants who competed in the PHS Most Beautiful Pageant. Everyone looked absolutely stunning!
