The theme for the MS Poetry Project this year was “Writing about Nature: A Place I Love (or, A Place I Hate).” Students wrote poems on a wide range of topics including: the glory of a new day, the stars and moon, the ocean and its wonders and dangers, and soaking in nature while running in it.
Kristen Pannell and Jenny Savely were incredibly hospitable and welcoming, making the day super special for all students. Toyota treated students to a Chick-fil-A lunch, a Toyota swag bag of happies, and a tour through the Toyota plant. The students bestowed a copy of their poetry anthology to Toyota, signing their names beside their poems as a thank you for Toyota’s generosity.
“The tour was fantastic and definitely made me think about my future.” Kaylee Good, 9th grade
“I will honestly say that this was such an awesome experience. Many new friends were made, and I learned many things I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t attend.” Kylie Rose Caballero, 10th grade
“I enjoyed learning how cars are made and the process it takes. They explained how the robots worked and how many cars they make.” Tamara Garcia Alvarado, 12th grade
