Blackout Poetry

Mrs. Kelly’s SREB class is reading the book “Monster” by Walter Dean Myers. In the book, a boy named Steve Harmon is put on trial for a crime that he says he did not commit. Her class created blackout poetry as a way to express how Steve is feeling at this point of the book during the trial, and how he cannot express what he is feeling in the court system. Overall the students did an amazing job depicting the emotion Steve has in the novel through their poems!
